April

April Hulme is our Club Director for Crown PSA North and inspiration for our club name as she is colloquially named the ‘Queen of PSA in England’.

April has been monumental in the beginning and continued growth of the sport here in England, having arranged the first seminars, trials and decoy certification camp.

April is also a competitor in the sport with her two Belgian Malinois, Axel PSA1 and Cilla PDC. In 2022 April and Axel achieved the first leg of PSA Level 1, winning 1st place PSA1, and receiving trophies and plaques for:

High obedience
High protection
High in trial
High owner trained
High owner trained club

In March 2023, April closed our her PSA1 with Axel at Crown’s own trial, ‘The Queen’s Gambit’. She won first place PSA1 Obedience and 2nd place PSA1 overall.

In November 2023, April competed with Axel at the 2023 PSA Nationals in Dallas, Texas, USA, where he came 4th in the Level 1’s and won the Decoy’s Choice Dog award.

In December 2023, April achieved a PDC on her younger Belgian Malinois, Cilla, who is Axel’s daughter.

In April 2024, April and Axel achieved the first leg of their PSA2, winning plaques for:

In June 2024, April and Axel closed out her PSA2 with Axel at Crown’s trial, ‘Harry Potter and the Room of Doom’. April also competed at this trial with Cilla, and achieved the first leg of their PSA1, winning trophies for:

High owner trained club

April is also known to have trained Dobermann Huskar for his owner, who competes and has achieved a Level 1 with impressive scores. She has experience in stewarding at PSA trials, as well as having won countless trophies in other protection and obedience trials unrelated to PSA.

Prior to starting Crown PSA, April ran and owned Cheshire Working Dog Club. April works as a full time pet dog behavioural trainer and dog sports performance trainer.

Jen

Jen Walmsley is our Club Director for Crown PSA South.

Jen has had involvement in the sport of PSA since it started growing in England, supporting April with the arranging of trials and the first decoy certification camp.

Jen is also a competitor in the sport with her two Belgian Malinois, Red PSA1. and Whiskey PDC. Jen and Red proudly achieved the first leg of their PSA Level 1 in 2022, and the second leg of their PSA Level 1 in March 2023. Jen and Whiskey achieved their PDC in December 2023.

In June 2024, Jen and Red competed and achieved the first leg of their PSA2 at Crown’s ‘Harry Potter and the Room of Doom’ trial, winning a trophy for:

High protection

Jen has experience in stewarding PDC and PSA Level 1 at trials.

Alongside the work she does at Crown PSA, Jen works as a full time pet dog behavioural trainer in her area.
